Frequently Asked Questions - Billing and Payment
How much will an interpreter cost? Assignments are billed by the quarter-hour after a 2-hour minimum. Our rates vary based on the type of assignment, and we are often able to negotiate rates for long-term assignments and contracts.
Please contact us for an estimate.
How does SCISD bill for services? You should expect to receive an invoice the week following your assignment, which will detail the assignment and all associated costs.
What forms of payment do you accept? SCISD can accept payment via check or by VISA, MasterCard, or Discover.
Please call our office if you wish to make payment by credit card.
Am I required to sign a contract? No, but we do have a standard interpreting agreement. This allows us to communicate anything you would need to know about our company and billing standards in advance, so there is no confusion. You aren’t required to use our services after signing this agreement – we just want you to know what to expect when you do.
Who is responsible for paying for the interpreter(s)? The agency that requests the interpreter will be responsible for paying for the services provided. For example, if two agencies are meeting with one client together, the agency who contacts SCISD to make the request will be required to remit payment. Any agency who wishes to secure an interpreter will be asked to sign the SCISD Standard Interpreting Agreement, which will outline all billing and payment specifics.
*Legally, clients cannot be required to provide their own interpreter nor can services be denied a Deaf/HOH client based on disability status. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), public and government entities must make accommodations for individuals with disabilities, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. If you have any questions, call the ADA Hotline 800-514-0301 to inquire about your responsibility to provide accommodations.
